It is at this point in my life that I first “came into a bit of money”. I mean, I’d definitely had a privileged life before…
But the effects were rather transformative and my charta vitae doesn’t really make sense without the inclusion of this particular event / side-quest.
At first I didn’t let anything change. But I started running the numbers. How much present income were these assets generating? What were the implications for retirement planning? It became clear that holding the course would result in some silly scenarios at a certain point, and some missed opportunities.
Jeremy and I decided that we could make the leap and buy a house. We hadn’t allowed ourselves to imagine that before. We had been in that 1 bedroom apartment all through the pandemic. Staying there no longer made sense.
