Presenting: A Nationwide Comparison of Racial Segregation in Metropolitan Regions: What Can Be Learned from a Social Interaction Approach?

My chief memory of this conference is of a bunch of economists in business casual floating down the Willamet River at nighttime on a large cruise boat, when someone stumbles over and announces that “we got too many drink tickets” and then handing over a half dozen to me, a grad student who could really use a drink. That, and a breakfast involving a good amount of salmon and fresh orange juice thanks to a generous international per diem.
